Tangy Moments — User Guide
Welcome to Tangy Moments
Tangy Moments is a voice-first memoir app that helps you capture and preserve your life stories. You speak — or write — and the app turns your words into a beautiful, organised memoir that your family can treasure forever.
This guide walks through everything the app can do. You do not need to use every feature straight away. Start with recording a session, and explore the rest at your own pace.
If a family member is helping you, they can follow along with this guide too. Many features are designed to work together — you capture memories, and family can read, ask questions, and celebrate your stories.
Finding Your Way Around — The Main Menu
At the top of every page you will see the navigation bar. It has four main sections:
- Moments — Your home dashboard. Shows your six memory themes as progress tiles, so you can see which areas of your life you have covered and which are still waiting. There are also quick-start buttons to jump straight into recording.
- Memories — A list of every memory that has been captured so far, grouped by theme. You can read, edit, add photos, or delete individual memories here.
- Book — Your memoir in full. The AI organises your memories into chapters and presents them as a readable book. You can share it, rename it, and export it as a PDF.
- Record — Start a new voice conversation with the AI guide. This is the main way to add new memories.
Tap or click any item in the menu to go to that page. If you are on a phone, the menu appears as a row of tabs at the bottom of the screen.
Four Ways to Capture Your Memories
There is no single “right” way to add memories. Choose whichever feels most comfortable for you.
1. Record a Session
Click Record in the navigation bar. The AI guide will greet you and ask you an opening question about your life — perhaps about your childhood home, your first job, or a favorite memory. Speak naturally, just as if you were chatting with a friend. The AI will ask gentle follow-up questions to draw out more detail. When you finish, your conversation is automatically turned into individual memories and saved under the right themes.
2. Quick Capture — Upload an Existing Recording
Already recorded yourself talking on your phone, or have a voice memo saved somewhere? You can upload that audio file directly. Go to the Moments page and choose “Upload Recording”. The app will listen to the recording and extract memories from it, just as if you had recorded live.
3. Upload a Document or Written Story
If you have already written some of your life story — in a Word document, a PDF, or even a plain text file — you can upload it. Go to the Memories page and choose “Upload Document”. The app will read your words and turn them into memories. This is a great way to bring in old letters, diary entries, or notes you have already written.
4. Write a Memory Directly
Prefer to type? Go to the Memories page and click the button to add a new memory. Type as much or as little as you like, choose a theme, and save. It is added to your collection straight away.
The Moments Dashboard
The Moments page is your home base. When you sign in, this is the first thing you see.
- Six colored tiles show your six memory themes. Each tile shows how many memories you have captured in that theme and a small progress bar.
- Click any tile to start a recording session focused on that theme.
- Quick-start buttons let you jump straight into a new recording session, upload a recording, upload a document, or write a memory.
You can use this page to decide which part of your life to focus on next. If you notice one theme is looking a little empty, that is a gentle nudge to explore it in your next session.
The Memories Page — Viewing and Editing Your Stories
Every memory that has been captured lives on the Memories page. Here is what you can do:
- Browse by theme — Use the filter buttons to see only memories from one theme, such as Childhood or Work.
- Read any memory — Click on a memory to open and read it in full.
- Edit a memory — If the wording is not quite right, or you want to add more detail, click the edit button to change the text.
- Delete a memory — If something was captured by mistake, you can delete it. You will be asked to confirm before it is removed permanently.
- Add a photo — You can attach a photo to any memory. This might be a family portrait, a picture of the place you grew up, or any image that brings the story to life.
The six themes are: Childhood, Family, Love, Work, Places, and Reflections. Memories are sorted automatically, but you can change the theme of any memory by editing it.
Your Book — Reading and Sharing Your Memoir
The Book page is where your life story comes together as a proper memoir. The AI reads all your memories and organises them into chapters — one for each theme — with an introduction and flowing prose.
- Read your book — Scroll through the chapters at any time. The book grows richer every time you add new memories.
- Regenerate the book — After adding new memories, click the regenerate button to update the book so it includes everything new.
- Rename your book — Click the title at the top of the book to give it your own name. For example: My Life Story by Margaret, or Memories of a Long and Happy Life.
- Share your book — Click the Share button to create a special read-only link. Anyone with this link — your children, grandchildren, old friends — can open and read your book in a beautiful page-turning view. They do not need to sign in or download anything.
- Export as PDF — This is a Pro feature ($24.99 per book, one-time — see Plans). It downloads a beautifully formatted PDF of your complete memoir, which you can print or keep as a keepsake file.
The Shared Book — What Family Members See
When you share your book with family, they open the link and see a special reading view — like turning the pages of a real book.
- Family can read every chapter at their own pace.
- They can highlight any passage they find touching or interesting, and click “Ask about this” to send you a question about that specific moment.
- There is also a floating question button on the page, which family can use to ask a general question about anything in your life.
Family questions are a lovely way to deepen your story. They appear on your Questions page and flow into your next recording session as gentle prompts.
Family Questions — Seeing What Family Want to Know
The Questions page (find it in the user menu at the top right) shows all the questions your family have sent in after reading your book.
- Read each question and see which part of your story it relates to.
- Questions are used as prompts in your next recording session — the AI guide will gently bring them up so you can answer them in your own words.
- There is also an “ask link” on this page. Copy this link and send it to family members so they can submit questions even without reading the full book.
This feature makes Tangy Moments a two-way conversation across generations. Your family is not just reading — they are helping to shape your story.
The Memory Map — Seeing Your Life in Places
The Map page (find it in the user menu at the top right) shows an interactive map of all the places mentioned in your memories.
- Every town, city, country, or landmark that appears in your stories is marked on the map automatically.
- Click any marker to see which memories mention that place.
- If a place has been identified incorrectly, you can click on it and edit the location name to correct it.
The map is a wonderful way to see the geography of your life — from where you were born, to where you worked, traveled, and made your home.
Inviting Family as Editors
You can invite a trusted family member to help you with your memories — not just to read, but to suggest edits.
- Go to Settings, then find the Audience section.
- Enter the family member’s email address to send them an invitation.
- Once they accept, they can view your memories and suggest changes — but they cannot delete anything. You stay in control.
This is especially helpful if a son, daughter, or grandchild is helping you to record and organise your stories.
Settings — Personalizing Your Account
The Settings page (find it in the user menu at the top right) lets you manage your personal information and preferences.
- Your name and nickname — Update how you would like the AI to address you during sessions.
- Birthplace and hometown — Tell the app where you grew up. The AI uses this to ask more specific questions during recording sessions.
- Weekly digest email — Turn this on to receive a friendly email once a week containing one of your memories and a follow-up question to spark a new recording session.
- Plan — See whether you are on the Free or Pro plan, and upgrade if you wish.
- WhatsApp connection — Connect your WhatsApp account to capture memories by sending voice notes or messages.
- Telegram connection — Same as WhatsApp, but using the Telegram messaging app.
- Danger Zone — Options to delete your account or permanently remove all your data. These actions cannot be undone.
Getting Started — Your First Sign-In
The first time you sign in to Tangy Moments, the app will guide you through a short welcome process. It only takes a minute or two.
- Step 1 — Enter your nickname (the friendly name the AI will use when talking with you) and your full name.
- Step 2 — Tell us your birthplace and where you grew up. This helps the AI ask questions that are personal and specific to your life.
- Step 3 — Let us know if someone is helping you — a spouse, a child, or another family member.
After these three steps, you are ready to start recording your first memory. Welcome to Tangy Moments.
